Can Midea Compete in Australia’s Home Battery Market?

Midea is one of the largest appliance and HVAC manufacturers in the world, but its entry into residential energy storage is very new. The company’s LV Residential ESS range (ME-B5L to ME-B30L) was approved by the Clean Energy Council in September 2025, giving it eligibility for use in Australia and for federal and state rebate programs.
 
On paper, the Midea battery offers a stackable, low-voltage lithium iron phosphate (LFP) design with capacities from 5.12 kWh to 30.6 kWh and an IP65 rating for indoor or outdoor use. It connects with hybrid inverters via CAN or RS485 and is designed to integrate into Midea’s broader “iEasyEnergy” ecosystem, which also includes inverters, heat pumps, and an energy management app.
 
However, Australian homeowners will notice one major issue: there is almost no information available locally about warranty coverage, support channels, or installer experience. While Midea has the resources of a global brand, its battery division is essentially unproven in the Australian market.

At the time of writing, there is very little official information available about Midea’s warranty terms for the ME-B series in Australia. Based on industry standards and similar lithium iron phosphate (LFP) systems, it is expected to come with a 10-year product and performance warranty, but this has not been clearly published.
 
The bigger concern is after-sales support. While Midea is a household name for appliances and HVAC systems, its battery division is new and untested in Australia. There is no established service network for residential batteries, and no public record of local installer or customer experiences.
