Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the new $100 Power Saving Bonus, you must:
- Be a Victorian resident
- Hold an eligible concession card
The list of eligible cards will be confirmed closer to the launch date, but typically includes:
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Health Care Card
- Veterans Affairs Gold Card
If you’re unsure, wait until the application page is live or contact your local support agency or energy provider for help.
How to Apply
From 25 August 2025, applications will be open through:
- The official Victorian Energy Compare website
- Local community organizations, including libraries, community centers, and neighborhood houses
You’ll likely need to provide:
- Your concession card number
- Basic household information
- Potentially, a copy of your electricity bill

Energy Concessions and Hardship Payments
Concession holders may be entitled to ongoing discounts on electricity and gas bills. You can also ask your energy provider to back-date missed concessions for up to 12 months.
Energy Bill Relief Fund
A $150 one-off payment is currently available for embedded network customers (e.g. those living in apartment complexes, caravan parks, or retirement villages). Read more about that here ← (link to your other blog post).
Energy Assistance Program
This program offers free, one-on-one advice to help you:
- Understand your energy bills
- Apply for support payments
- Switch to better energy plans

What If You’re Struggling to Pay Your Bills?
If you’re behind on energy payments or facing disconnection:
- Contact your energy retailer early and ask to speak to their hardship team
- Under Victoria’s Payment Difficulty Framework, your provider must offer you flexible payment options and other support
