NEOVOLT Battery Suspension: One Model Relisted, Others Still Suspended

NEOVOLT battery suspension: BW-BAT-9.6P nameplate check for STC eligibility

The NEOVOLT battery suspension has changed. On 7 October 2026 the Clean Energy Council (CEC) lifted the suspension on one model, the BW-BAT-9.6P. Six related models remain suspended. If you are planning a home battery, this affects whether you can claim the federal rebate. Here is what happened and what to check.

Quick answer: only BW-BAT-9.6P batteries with the correct nameplate are STC eligible. Models BW-BAT-9.6P I to VI are still suspended and not eligible.

What happened with NEOVOLT batteries?

The CEC looks after the Approved Products list for solar panels, inverters and batteries in Australia. Effective 15 September 2026, it suspended several NEOVOLT (Bytewatt Technology Co., Ltd) battery models for not complying with its product listing Terms and Conditions. Industry was told of the intention to suspend on 7 September 2026.

This was not a recall, and the CEC says it was not based on any identified product safety issue. For the full notice, see the CEC’s NEOVOLT suspension page.

Why does a CEC suspension matter for the battery rebate?

Suspended products are not eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which is how the federal discount on a home battery is applied. They are also not eligible for any program or network that requires CEC Approved Products. You can read how the discount works in our battery rebate guide, or see the Clean Energy Regulator’s solar batteries page for the scheme rules.

Which NEOVOLT model has been relisted?

The BW-BAT-9.6P. The manufacturer supplied information explaining why different variants were imported and which stock belongs to each variant, which satisfied the corrective action for this model. From 7 October 2026, batteries confirmed as the relisted model can be installed, subject to program and network requirements.

Which NEOVOLT models are still suspended?

These models remain suspended and are not eligible for STCs:

  • BW-BAT-9.6P I
  • BW-BAT-9.6P II
  • BW-BAT-9.6P III
  • BW-BAT-9.6P IV
  • BW-BAT-9.6P V
  • BW-BAT-9.6P VI

The CEC found that nameplate labels on products supplied in Australia did not match the labels in the testing and certification documents originally supplied to it. That corrective action is still outstanding.

How to check a BW-BAT-9.6P nameplate for STC eligibility

Two variants of the BW-BAT-9.6P look similar and carry the same model number. Only batteries whose nameplate matches all of these details are eligible for STCs

  • Working voltage range: DC 90 V – 105.6 V
  • Max. continuous charge and discharge current: DC 52.5 A
  • Battery designation: IFpP52/161/120/[(10S)3S]E/-10+50/90

If any detail does not match, the battery is not eligible. NEOVOLT has quarantined mislabelled batteries that were supplied to market but not yet installed so they can be relabelled. This is exactly the sort of check worth adding to your home battery installer checklist.

What if my NEOVOLT battery was installed during the suspension?

Installations of the BW-BAT-9.6P completed from 15 September to 6 October 2026 (inclusive) are not eligible for STCs. Installations completed on or after 7 October 2026 may be eligible if all scheme requirements are met. Any state or territory rebate is separate, so confirm it with the program administrator. Our state guides cover WA, NSW and ACT.

What if my NEOVOLT battery was installed during the suspension?

The manufacturer has until 14 December 2026 to complete the outstanding corrective actions. If it does, the suspension is lifted. If not, the CEC will issue an intent to de-list notice on 7 December 2026 and show the remaining models as de-listed from 15 December 2026.

What should buyers do now?

  • Confirm the exact model. Ask your installer for the model name and the nameplate details in writing before you sign.
  • Check the CEC list on install day. Product status can change, so verify against the CEC Approved Batteries list.
  • Compare more than one brand. Browse our home battery reviews and the battery buying guide.
  • Know your protections. Read what the New Energy Tech Consumer Code means for battery buyers.
  • Already have a NEOVOLT quote? Ask the installer which variant it is and whether it is STC eligible. If you want a second opinion, get up to 3 quotes from vetted installers.

FAQs about the NEOVOLT battery suspension

No. The CEC says the suspension was not based on a product recall or any identified product safety issue.

The BW-BAT-9.6P, relisted on 7 October 2026, with an approval date of 17 December 2025 and an expiry of 31 December 2027 on the CEC listing.

State and territory programs are separate. Check with the relevant administrator.

The bottom line

The NEOVOLT situation is improving but not resolved. One model is eligible again if the nameplate matches, and six stay suspended until the labelling issue is fixed.
